MLO 4: Research and Technology:
4.1. Students gain knowledge of appropriate research methodologies and are able to apply them in their studies.
4.2. Students use appropriate technologies in research and studies relative to Japanese language and culture.
4.3. Students collect, manage and analyze current and emerging technology-based resources to develop and produce their scholarly work.
Classes taken
JAPN 400- Advance Japanese for Interpersonal Communication
JAPN 404- Advance Japanese for Presentational Communication
WLC 400 - Capstone
Narrative:
4.1
In both the JAPN 400 and 404 class, we were introduced to a variety of technological tools ranging from the use of Microsoft Excel to, but not limited to, the use of Google Drive and all its functions. Taking these classes were essential as it taught us how to effectively conduct research, manipulate search engines to narrow down its findings, and even sort data.
4.2
In JAPN 404, the class revolved around research as well as further immersing ourselves in an all Japanese taught course and learning the use of academic Japanese. This course tested out knowledge of the Japanese culture by in depth examination within a certain topic as well as testing our Japanese writing skills in the form of writing a fully Japanese dissertation. The use of technology and learning academic Japanese writing allowed me to research Japanese articles as well as applying what I have read into a Japanese paper.
4.3
Through the use of technology, I was able to collect data, sort, analyze, as well as create charts and graphs for my PowerPoint. With most of the industrialized world moving towards the technological era, applying what we have learned in teach of the classes I've listed enabled me to create a blog, and this E-portfolio, for the rest of the world to see.
